PERIDOT GEM STONE

Treasured by the people of Hawaii who believed the gem to be the tears of the Godess, Pele. In the ancient world, the Romans named the gem "Evening Emerald" as it's brilliant color did not fade in lamplight but intead would glow in the evening hours. Partly for this reason, Peridot is believed to help dreams become reality and it is said to ward off evil spirits at night. Much of the Peridot in the market is mined by Native Americans on Arizona's San Carlos Reservation and is listed as Arizona Peridot. Besides the United States it's other major sources are China, Australia, Brazil, Myanmar, Kenya, Mexico and Sri Lanka.
